I started practising Yoga in Brazil in 1997 to de-stress from a demanding professional career. After graduating in Journalism, post-graduating and working with Advertising I found myself suffering from stress in my early 20’s. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, had severe heart palpitations and IBS; having a knee condition that flared up when doing high intensity exercise meant restricted options to exercise. I started Pilates and became curious about Yoga.
I remember feeling overwhelmed hearing commands in the ancient Sanskrit language but found myself in a blissful state after sweating in the vigorous Ashtanga class. I took on authentic Yengar classes that helped me understand concepts of alignment and experience a restorative practice. I moved onto Pre-Natal Yoga which helped me making my 3 pregnancies experiences I treasure.
I moved to England in 2011 with 3 young children, and found myself fatigued, overweight, suffering from anxiety which triggered Fibromyalgia again. My Physiotherapist suggested to get back into Yoga and exercise more. I developed my home practice, attended weekly Hatha classes and made an effort to either swim or take part in group cycling. My health was restored and at the age of 42, I decided to embrace a new career.
I trained to become a Gym Floor Fitness Instructor and in 2017 a Les Mills BodyBalance Instructor teaching this blend of Yoga with Tai Chi, and Pilates. In 2018, qualified as a Yoga Teacher and soon after in Teen Yoga and Mindfulness. I embraced other forms of this discipline, specialising in Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra, and started teaching Chair Yoga to the ageing population.
During the pandemic, perimenopause symptoms creeped up, but I was grateful for having time to educate myself on how Nutrition, mindset, and exercise impact greatly on how we feel. I gradually modified how I practice and teach Yoga, adjusted my diet and my outlook on other activities that support our health as we age. I expanded my knowledge on Qigong which is the Chinese approach to energy flow and mindful movement.
In 2022, I certified as a Women’s Health Coach Specialist to offer workout routines; guide into Nutrition and help with lifestyle habits. This training also includes Pelvic Floor guidance to assist women in conditions that impact on their ability to exercise and feel good, and information on Hormone Replacement Therapy – HRT.
I invest a good amount of my time updating myself on scientific studies with evidence on how we sustain our health, so I can serve my students better; without forgetting that part of me that feels and believes in the honing of Universal energy. For this reason, I pursued into becoming a Reiki and Sound Therapist to offer these holistic treatments either privately or in group events.
It will be my honour and privilege to work with you as a whole and individual person, or as a collective.

Love lianas classes. I train for powerlifting and yoga really complements it, I have found much more depth in my squat and less tightness and aching after training. She is an excellent teacher, really passionate and knowledgeable.

I have attended both of Lianas Balance Workshops. I highly recommend booking the next ones. Liana is encouraging, patient and thorough. More of a Masterclass than a Workshop! I’ll be booking again. Thanks Liana, Om Shanti 🙏
